Binding a Student Planner

After you have printed all the pages you need for your Student Planner you will need to bind the pages somehow.  You could use a folder or a three ring binder.  I used a binding machine.

  • Family member
  • Student planner pages
  • Comb binding strips
  • Front and back covers

Step one:  Convince your in-laws (or other family members) that you have a greater need of their binding machine, than they do.  After a few years, they’ll believe you and give you the machine.  While waiting, just borrow it from them for a few days. :)

Step Two:  Punch neat a row of holes in the side of the paper.  Make sure your paper is all the way to the back and is straight before pulling the handle down.  :)

Step Three: Line the binding strip on the machine, then line each sheet of paper across the row of teeth, but put the front cover on first and the back cover on last.

Now you have a nice looking student planner.

I personalized the covers for each of the kids and gave them their favorite color binding strip.  Don’t they look nice?

While making the books, you will need an audience.  If you are short of observers, you may borrow mine.  :D

Coveting your binder. Anyone have a copy machine I can covet, too?

You have a lovely audience, but I’ll have to pass. Thanks though….really.

I am not short of observers, so I will not be needing yours.

Your planners look so nice. I am so glad that the inlaws gave that to you.

I am not short on observers so I will not be needing to borrow yours. My observers are enthralled with everything I do and they follow me around incessantly….sure wish my kids were as interested in me as the dogs are!

Your binders are lovely. I need to come up with a better scheduling system. I am finding problems with our system already and we are only on day 2 of school.

I’m with Sheri & CC – I’ll pass on the observers as I have my own here and if I need others I can easily get a hold of them w/o needing a special plane or permit to do so.

As for the planners, nice but I’d like more details at to what’s in them….. :whistling:

Elaine, click on the student planner link at the beginning of the post. It lists what I used. :) All I ended up using though, School Calendar, Curriculum List, Reading List, Videos/concerts/plays/sports list, weekly log, and notes.

Beautiful planners. I think I need a inservice though. I’ll make cookies if you bring the binder;)
    I miss my sister!

Another reason to justify buying a comb binding machine. :) Your planners look fantastic! Mine is just in a binder this year, and it’s awkward. I am going to make myself a good one for next year!

I like making my own. It has everything I need and none of the extra stuff. :D You’ll have to blog about your planners. I am trying to hold off making new ones for next year, until the third week of May. That’s after testing for the kids.
