It’s hard to believe it was just four years ago, Sir Son entered ninth grade and two years ago he entered Dual-enrollment.  Now he is graduating this May.  *sniff* and *Hoo-Rah*.   Now my second child will be entering highschool in the fall, so here we go again.

I have decided that I will occasionally work on this blog.  I have some science homeschool stuff I’d like to share.  I am at 991 posts, so I should at least get to post 1,000 before stopping.   I will limit my time on here and hopefully come back full time in several months.  We’ll see how it works out.

I have been thinking about this for months now and have decided that this blog is taking up way too much of my time.  I must tend to my family and other obligations.

I will update this blog one more time after Christmas, to change the background and to make the quizzes for the biology class public.  I might update, once in a while, to add any science activity sheets or projects I come up with.  Just things I’d like to share that might be helpful to other homeschoolers.

I hope you have enjoyed this blog as much as I have enjoyed writing it.  Please continue to use any of the resources for your personal use.

Lord Henry and M1 have been at it again.  This day we found them sneaking candy canes from the package I left for the girls!  If you look close enough, you’ll be able to see M1 is actually stuck inside the package.  I don’t know what he was thinking!

Day 7:  The pair was found acting out the Birth of Jesus story, on our Advent Calendar.  Lord Henry is Joseph and M1 is Mary.  Wondering if they fought over who was going to play which part?

Day 8:  They love to dance!  When they found out Mr. Snowman also loves to dance, they joined in.

Day 9:  We found them hanging from the kitchen garland!  They wanted the crocheted snowflakes to decorate themselves.  I think they went a little overboard with the size of the decoration they used.

During the night, while she slept, I threw in several balloons on her floor.  Then I closed her door and…

covered her door in streamer paper.  That is Lord Henry and M1 hanging in there.  I’ll post about them another day.

In the morning she opened the door to this.

and I heard, “MoomMMMM!”

She had to use all her super powers to get out of the incredibly strong crepe paper streamer stuff.  I didn’t have to help her at all.  That means she is growing up. *sniff*

Yes, I say.  I need a bag of Hershey kisses to add to a gift.  Get the ones in Christmas colors if you can.  He says ok!

Five minutes later:

Sir Husband, “What was I suppose to get for you?

Me, “Hershey Kisses.  The Christmas colored ones.

Sir Husband, “That explains why I am standing in the candy isle looking at the chocolate.”

Me, “Yeah.  That would be the reason.  Get the Hershey Kisses in the Christmas colors.”

Forty-five minutes later he is home and I empty the bags.  I hold up the bag of M&Ms.   Me, “Um, I told you to get Hershey Kisses.”

Sir Husband, “I did.”

Me (still holding up the bag of M&Ms),  ”I wanted Hershey Kisses.”

Sir Husband, “Yeah.  That’s what I got.  See?”

Me, “HER-SHE kisses!”

Sir Husband, “OH! What was I thinking!”

The rest of the family, “BWAHAHAHAHA..”                                                         

Around here the M&Ms will now be called Hershey Kisses.  So I have no idea what the kids are asking for when they want Hershey Kisses.

This is a copy of an email Sir Husband sent to all his friends.  As you can see he stole the photos that I had used in a previous post.  You will also notice that he writes a heck-of-a-lot better than me.  :)

Meet Phil (the camper), also known as Big Phil.  Due to the noise the friction type sway bar makes when you turn, he is nowsometimes known as “Phil the Flatulent”.  My youngest daughter made a comment about saving the whales…..before they blast themselves into extinction.  Must have been listening to her father…. or it’s genetic.  That’s scary, since there are four of them.

It was maiden voyage weekend.  My diesel van never seemed small before.  For 11 years I have called it Vanzilla.  Another myth busted.  Darn.  It never seemed gutless either.  It’s feeling a bit poochie right now (OK, it’s a dawg).  May need an upgrade there.  I’m thinking van cab on a C6500 chassis….I can see it now…..it’s manly.  Yes, Virginia, I would do it just because it can be done.  Is any other reason necessary?  After all, you really should drive something that weighs as much as what you tow, right?  In theory Phil clocks in at almost 10.5k.  Big x Large x Heavy.  A bit too heavy.  I didn’t get it weighed.  Ignorance is bliss, as long as it stays behind you…..

Power Peas (as in “two-peas-in-a-pod”) eating dinner.   This is from an experimental test camp in the back yard.  Lack of junk gives it away.  Had it been an actual camp out you would have been given instructions on where to tune for news and information.  And you would see junk.

Large daughter (the violinist) on the scene as well.  No violin this trip, so she played harmonica!  This is also a pre-trip photo.  Yes, the man-child is conspicuously absent.  Being 18 and male, he won’t touch a family campout with a 40 foot pole.  He still doesn’t believe that sisters are necessary, and being a practical sort of person, a device that confines them in close proximity is less necessary.  I think he would sometimes like to replace parents as well.  We’ll keep the sofa open for him.  In a couple years when we get smarter maybe he will want to go with us!

This is post trip.  Some tasks are just plain necessary.  I couldn’t find the gloves I brought either.  Oh well, that’s why they make hand sanitizer.  Good bye, good riddance, and thank God for dump stations.  The gloves have since been located.  A whole box of them!  It won’t happen again……I hope.

A good time was had by all.  That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.

The van got 9.9 mpg on back roads through Starke at 55 MPH.  I was hoping (O.K. I was wishing) for II to 12.  I decided to try the interstate on the way home.   It was up hill (both ways) heading into lake city, and the wind was oppressive.  After adjusting the hitch to reduce Phil’s influence on the navigational duties, we forged on to a lackluster 8.01 mpg at 65 MPH.  A veritable extravaganza of Entropy.  I could hear polar bears drowning as I drove.  No, it didn’t bother anything but my wallet.  Yes, I’m incorrigible.  However, the hills and the wind together were a real killer.  I was hoping for at least 9 mpg, and wishing for 10.  A clean air filter, and removal of the factory engineered exhaust blockages (Generous Motors calls them tubing bends), and maybe next time I can keep it in 4^th gear up the big hills and do better.  We’ll see soon.  In the mean time, that C6500 with a CAT diesel six banger is lookin’ good.

Day 1:  They arrive with a note and lots of crocheted stars to hang on the tree.  M1 was buried under the stars.  *rolleyes*     This was also the day we headed out to go camping, which I’ll talk about later.  We left Lord Henry and M1 at home.  The woods is no place for rodents and minions.

Day 2: We were up early getting ready for the day and  I hear J. say, “What!  Why is Lord Henry and M1 in the pantry!?”   To my surprise they were able to get into the camper and hide in the pantry.

I wouldn’t let them go hiking with us, so they stayed in the camper and played.

Day 3:  I don’t have a photo of this, since we were in a hurry to pack up and go.  Lord Henry and M1 must have been up all night, because we found them in our coffee cups ready for some coffee. They probably needed a pick-me up.

Day 4:  We are back home.  I heard some scurrying around during the night, but didn’t know what was going on.  The Violinist and J found out what all the noise was.  Lord Henry and M1 were caught moving ornaments around on our tree!

Looks like M1 was having some trouble and Lord Henry had to save him.  Silly M1.  It also looks like Lord Henry thought one of the ornaments looked better on his head.  I’m not so sure.

Day 5:  Lord Henry and M1 were at it again.  This time R. found them in the pantry at home.  I guess they are liking pantries.   The naughty pair was trying to get some cheerios!  Hmmm…I guess that ornament hat came in handy.

I am thinking Lord Henry is a little lazy, because I see M1 doing all the work and it looks dangerous to me.

Wonder what they will be up to tomorrow?

Anything going on in your house?

Lord Henry typed up a noted that said they were here to celebrate the birth of Jesus with our family.  To get things off to a good start he ordered M1 to crochet a bunch of white stars to hang around the house.

He thinks M1 went overboard and made too many.  Naughty M1.

I’m wondering if M1 is the naughty one here.
