Ekkk, sponge bombs!

Our littlest Pea is turning eight on Monday.   Today, we had a small birthday party for her with three neighbor friends.  I needed something to do that was within her mixed-up theme, inexpensive, and fun.  One part of my daugher’s birthday theme was summer water fun. What better way to celebrate, than with sponge bombs.

Just soak them in water.

Then send them on their way to bomb the friends.

Or find another way to use them.

It’s all up to you. They’re cheap, they’re fun, and they last longer than the party.

Sponge Bombs:

I got this idea from a book I had a long time ago called Kids Concoctions.  I no longer have this books, so I am not sure which of these books this project was in.

You need three small sponges and cut each of them into four long strips.

After cutting all the strips, gather all of them together in your hand.

Take a rubberband and bind all of the strips together at the center. Once that is done, fluff up the strips and you end up with a nice sponge bomb.

Coming up next, JEWELSIt’s what every girl needs. 🙂

  1. Ok, I’ve got to do this. So better than water balloons.

  2. These are fabulous! I love the idea, plus it isn’t as wasteful as leaving a hose or sprinkler going. Thanks for posting 🙂

  3. That is a great idea!! We’ve bought sponge bombs before but they are more like balls and while not too pricey yours would be so much cheaper and useful as well.

  4. Hee, fun…way more satisfying than water balloons, which either don’t pop on impact, or pop in your hands before you throw. :p

  5. Oh what fun! Who could resist all that color?

  6. What a great idea! They came out well. Happy Belated Birthday to your DD.
