A Sleepover Party

The Pea #1 had a sleep-over birthday party.  To make it easy on me, I suggested the friends come over for pizza, watch a movie, sleep-over, and then have waffles for breakfast.  That turned out to be very acceptable. 🙂

I found a purple table cloth, gold stars, and movie decorations to make the event special.

Pizza was serve  with lots of talk and giggles.

Afterwards, they adjourned to the living room to watch Tooth Fairy.  There was much giggling going on still.  After the movie, they ate popcorn cupcakes.  The pea and I made them earlier in the day.  They were so much work, I don’t think we will be making them again.   But they were very cute.

At around 11:00pm, it was time for bed.  I went to bed, but they didn’t.  No surprise there. lol   Around 3:30am, I heard them giggling.  I finally got them to be quiet and get some sleep.  The next morning they slept until around 9:30am.

I asked why did they come over for a sleepover when they didn’t sleep.  I was told the reason it was called  sleepover was because you “sleep” “over” the normal time you get up in the morning.   LOL  I think that about sums it up right.

SQUIRREL!

One of the families at the co-op found a baby squirrel over the weekend.  They brought it to the co-op, because it must be fed every four hours.  We got to watch the mom feed the little thing.

Four or Five Weeks Old

Isn’t it cute?  She is feeding him 5cc of puppy formula (I think) and 3cc of Pedialyte.

How to set up a Science Lab Book

The Biology class has just completed 1/4 of the Apologia Biology book.  Eleven labs have been completed.  YAY!

Now is the time for the students to start putting their lab notebook together.  Since we meet only once a week, the traditional composition notebook will not work.  I am requesting the students to place their lab write-ups in a three-ring binder, with the following information.

Page 1:  Title Page

  • The name of the student/researcher
  • Name of the school where the labs were performed
  • School year
  • Complete contact information

Pages 2 – 4+:  Table of Content

  • Left column:  Exp. # and Exp. Title
  • Right column:  Page number where the lab can be found.

Example:

Exp 1.1   Using a Biological Key………………………………………………………..  5-7

Next pages:

  • All lab write-ups.  In order and numbered.
  • Neatly done.
  • With Sketches if the lab required sketches.
  • No ripped page.
  • No missing pages.
  • No extra doodles.

I will be collecting these notebooks four times during the year.  The final time, it will be graded and will have the same weight as one lab grade.
